Playa San Rafael

Playa San Rafael is Barahona's urban beach, a favorite of southern families for its relaxed atmosphere and warm waters.

Its great distinction are the «charcos»: natural pools formed among the rocks where seawater mixes with the fresh-water springs coming down from the mountain, a phenomenon unique in the country.

Along the malecón there are eateries serving fish and seafood, and from here excursions depart to the coast and to the dunes of the Caletas de Barahona.
