What to pack
How to get there
Barahona is about 3 hours from Santo Domingo via the Sánchez Highway (SD-27). The city has its own international airport, María Montez (BRX), just 5 km to the north, although it operates with very limited flights (mostly charter); the main connecting airport remains Las Américas (SDQ) in the capital.
Car rental
Rent a car in Santo Domingo and drive down the Barahona highway. It’s a scenic drive worth taking at your own pace; check road conditions to beaches and caves with your hotel.
