El Morro de Montecristi

El Morro de Montecristi is a huge promontory more than 240 meters high, shaped like a lying camel, and part of Monte Cristi National Park. From its summit you take in panoramic views of the town, the mangroves, the Cayos Siete Hermanos and the ocean. At its foot, Playa del Morro stands out for its reddish/brown sand and strong surf, so swimming is not recommended; the area is visited by boat or on guided excursions to the mangroves and cays.
