All year; from December to April the weather is drier. In February the La Vega Carnival is held, the most famous in the Dominican Republic.

How to get there
La Vega is just over an hour from Santo Domingo on the Duarte Highway and about 30 minutes from Santiago. The nearest airport is Cibao International (STI) in Santiago.
Car rental
Rent a car in Santiago (STI) or Santo Domingo. A car is handy to combine La Vega with Constanza, Jarabacoa or Santo Cerro; check the insurance and mileage included.
