Río Caño Frío
Category: Naturaleza / parque · Destination: Samaná
The Caño Frío River flows into Playa Rincón on the Samaná peninsula and is one of the most photographed landscapes in the country: a cold freshwater river that comes down from the jungle and drops straight onto the sand, forming a natural pool among coconut palms. It is reached by boat from Las Galeras or by 4x4 along dirt roads from Samaná; there are no services in the area, so bring water, food and an umbrella. It is an ideal stop on a trip to Playa Rincón or Los Haitises National Park.
