Isla Catalina

Catalina Island is a small island of white sand and turquoise water about 2 km off the coast of La Romana, opposite Casa de Campo. It is one of the Caribbean's best spots for snorkeling and diving: its coral reefs, submerged walls and tropical fish are protected, and there are two main beaches, Playa Grande and El Carbón. Boats leave from La Romana or Bayahíbe on full-day trips that usually include snorkel gear, lunch and drinks. There are no hotels on the island, so it is visited as a day trip.
