Aguas Termales de Sajoma

The Sajoma Hot Springs are set in the mountains of San José de las Matas, in the Cordillera Central, just over an hour from Santiago de los Caballeros. They are natural pools of warm, mineral-rich water surrounded by pines, ferns and the sound of the river, in a cool mountain climate. The spot is ideal for relaxing and enjoying the scenery, and can be combined with hikes, mud baths and typical food at the local ranch restaurants. It is best to arrive early and bring a change of clothes, non-slip shoes and cash; access is by road from Sajoma and the final stretch can be in poor condition during the rainy season.
